What KULING does
Instead of showing a single model grid box, KULING fetches measurements from stations close to your position and blends them with several forecast models.
- Measured values from the nearest station, not just a model estimate
- Lightning alerts with real-time strike detection
- Compare KULING, the national models and ECMWF side by side
How the forecast is built
The forecast blends several models — among them SMHI, MET Norway, DMI, DWD, IMGW and ECMWF — with weights recalculated continuously from how accurate each model has actually been at your location over the past 90 days.
When the models disagree strongly, the forecast is marked uncertain rather than pretending to know.
We measure ourselves
KULING logs its own forecasts and compares them with the measured outcome. The result — mean error for temperature, wind and rain, week by week — is published on the accuracy page.
